In order to apply for membership in FWA, you must:
1. Have attended at least one FWA event. Here are some
upcoming events.
2. Have a current member as a
sponsor. If you don't know any of our members, we encourage you to attend some
FWA events and meet our members and find a sponsor. Click
here if you want to know who to contact for further information about
sponsorship.
FWA has five membership classifications for which you can
apply:
Active member
Associate member
Sustaining member
Long Distance member
Friend of FWA
Each classification is described below.
Active Member
Most of our members fall into this classification. Active members must meet
the following criteria:
1. Be employed by a financial services firm or in a clearly defined financial
position in the San Francisco Bay Area
2. Have a graduate degree and at least two years of experience in one or more
financial positions OR an undergraduate degree plus at least four years of
experience in one or more financial positions.
If you fulfill these criteria but are on a leave-of-absence from a financial
position, you are still eligible as an active member, provided you are not
working outside the finance industry.
Fees: There is a one-time $150 initiation fee, plus an annual membership fee
of $195 (prorated for the first year based on month the application is
approved). Please do not pay your dues before you receive an invoice.

Associate Member
Don't have the requisite experience in a financial position? Apply to be an
Associate Member. Although Associates have most of the privileges of an Active
member, they are not eligible to vote or hold board positions.
Associate Members must meet the following criteria:
1. Be employed by a financial services firm or in a clearly defined financial
position in the San Francisco Bay Area.
2. Have a graduate degree and at least six months of experience in a financial
position OR have an undergraduate degree and at least two years of experience in
a financial position.
If you fulfill these criteria but are on a leave-of-absence from a financial
position, you are still eligible as an associate member, provided you are not
working outside the finance industry.
FWA scholarship award winners are also eligible for Associate Membership.
Fees: There is a one-time $75 initiation fee, plus an annual membership fee
of $100 (prorated for the first year). Please do not pay your dues before you
receive an invoice.

Sustaining Member
Are you an Active member that has retired from the financial world but still
want to stay in touch? Click here to

Fees: There is an annual membership fee
of $75. All membership changes take effect at the beginning of the calendar
year.
Long Distance Member
Long Distance members must meet
the following criteria:
1. Live and work outside the San Francisco Bay Area (commonly defined as the
nine county area around San Francisco).
2. Be employed by a financial services firm or in a clearly defined financial
position.
3. Have a graduate degree and at least two years of experience in one or more
financial positions
OR
an undergraduate degree plus at least four years of experience in one or more
financial positions.
If you fulfill these criteria but are on a leave-of-absence from a financial
position, you are still eligible as a Long Distance member, provided you are not
working outside the finance industry.
Fees: There is a one-time $115 initiation fee, plus an annual membership fee
of $115 (prorated for the first year based on the month of the application
approval). For transfers from Active membership to Long Distance membership, the
initiation fee is waived.

Friend of FWA
The Friends of the FWA (FoFWA) category is designed to meet the needs of individuals who would like to get involved with the FWA and have their interests aligned with the FWA, but who do not meet the membership criteria.
Friends of the FWA are eligible to attend all members only events at the member rate and may serve on committees. They also have access to the membership directory*. Friends of the FWA would not be eligible to vote or hold Board positions.
There is a one-time $150 application fee, plus an annual fee of $195 (prorated for the first year). Please do not pay your dues before you receive an invoice.
