In order to apply for membership in FWA, you must:
1. Have attended at least one FWA event. Here are some
upcoming events.
2. Have a current member as a
sponsor. If you don't know any of our members, we encourage you to attend some
FWA events and meet our members and find a sponsor. Click
here if you want to know who to contact for further information about
finding a sponsor.
FWA has two membership classifications for which you can
apply:
Active member
Affiliate member
Returning members should read the
reinstatement section rather than filling out a new application.
Each classification is described below.
Active Member
Active members must meet
the following criteria:
1. Be employed by a financial services firm or in a clearly defined financial
position in the San Francisco Bay Area.
2. Have a graduate degree and at least two years of experience in one or more
financial positions OR an undergraduate degree plus at least four years of
experience in one or more financial positions.
If you fulfill these criteria but are on a leave-of-absence from a financial
position, you are still eligible as an active member, provided you are not
working outside the finance industry.

Affiliate Member
If you don't meet all the requirements of an Active Member, you can apply to
be an Affiliate Member. Although Affiliates have most of the privileges of an
Active member, they are not eligible to vote or hold board positions.
Examples of Affiliate Members include: those that have retired and do not
plan to return to work, those that changed jobs and now work outside the Bay
Area or those that do not have the education or work experience as described in
the Active Member section above.
Please note that Active Members who retire or change jobs outside the Bay
Area must change their membership status to Affiliate Member. For more

Reinstatement
If your membership lapsed for any reason and you wish to rejoin the FWA,
there is no need to fill out another application. Please
contact us to let us know you wish to reinstate your membership. Note: To
reinstate your membership, you are responsible for the initiation fee and annual

and annual fees. (For the reinstated year, your annual dues will be prorated
based on the calendar month in which you request reinstatement.)
