More About the Speakers

Donna Hamlin, Chief Executive Officer and Board Chair Hamlin Harkins, Ltd.
Donna Hamlin is the Chief Executive Officer and Board Chair for Hamlin Harkins, Ltd., which she founded in 1982. Dr. Hamlin is a corporate executive with twenty years of experience and a successful track record in strategy, change management and human performance management for a range of companies from Fortune 500 global enterprises to start-up companies in more than 30 countries.

Dr. Hamlin has a Ph.D. and M.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She has a B.A. from Siena College and has studied at the University of London. She serves as a Board trustee for the San Jose Cleveland Ballet, the United Way, the San Jose Stage Company and Girls, Inc. Donna also serves as a volunteer consultant in Russia for the Center for Citizens Initiative. She is certified by the National Association of Corporate Directors and is the recipient of awards from the International Communication Association and General Electric. A published author, she writes management articles in the area of human performance management.

Melanie Rogers, Principal/Director of Human Resources DES Architects + Engineers
Melanie Rogers, with over 25 years of experience in HR and Operations Management, has been part of the DES management team since 1998. With her leadership and creativity, DES has developed into an engaging and empowering place to work. It has been recognized by ZweigWhite, Building Design and Construction Magazine and the San Francisco Business Times/San Jose Business Journal as a "Best Firm to Work For". DES has also, under her guidance, been one of only seven companies to receive the California Fit Business Gold Award. She has implemented employee focused programs that reinforce recruitment, retention and advancement.

A graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program, Melanie not only encourages DES employees to get involved in their personal and professional communities, she does so herself. She currently serves as a board member of Peninsula Stroke Association and Kainos Home and Training Center. She is past board president of both Peninsula Stroke Association and Sutter Health Hospice Foundation. She is an ongoing moderator and speaker for the American Heart Association and is an active member of the No.Ca. Human Resources Association and the EDD Advisory Council.

Carole Weller, Branch Manager,  Robert Half International
Carole Weller is a Branch Manager for Robert Half International, overseeing the interim, contract and fulltime financial divisions in the San Francisco office. Robert Half International is the world's first and largest professional staffing firm with over 400 offices worldwide including 13 branches in Northern California.

Carole joined Robert Half International in 2005 and has held positions of increasing responsibility since that time. Carole has over 20 years of experience in the staffing industry, mostly related to accounting and finance. Previous roles include Director of Operations for Crown Personnel and Director of Operations for Aptus Personnel in the United Kingdom.

Carole is the Past President of American Society of Women Accountants, San Francisco Chapter. Carole is well versed on issues related to the local labor market and considered to be an expert on career and HR related topics, focused in the finance and accounting fields.
