Dr. Stephen Roach, Chairman, Morgan Stanley Asia
The Financial Women's Association along with
the World Affairs Council and Women's Forum West, invite you
to an Industry Leadership event: The New China. Dr. Stephen
Roach, Chairman, Morgan Stanley Asia is a renowned expert in
Chinese economic and financial sector issues and has
recently published The Next Asia: Opportunities and
Challenges for a New Globalization. He will share his
perspectives on China's role in the global economy, urgent
issues on the agendas of both U.S. and Chinese economic
policy makers, and the future path of U.S. and Chinese
economic relations.
Mr. Roach is Chairman of Morgan Stanley
Asia, serving as the firm's senior representative to
clients, governments, and regulators across the region.
Prior to this appointment, he was Morgan Stanley's Chief
Economist. His recent research focuses on globalization, the
emergence of China and India, and the capital market
implications of global imbalances. He is widely quoted in
the financial press and other media. Mr. Roach advises
governments and policy makers around the world and
frequently presents expert testimony to the U.S. Congress.
Before joining Morgan Stanley in 1982, Mr.
Roach was Vice President for Economic Analysis for the
Morgan Guaranty Trust Company, served on the research staff
of the Federal Reserve Board, and was a research fellow at
the Brookings Institution. He holds a Ph.D. in economics
from New York University and a Bachelor's degree in
economics from the University of Wisconsin.
