program featuring Karen Johnson McKewan, Partner and former
San Francisco Office Leader of the San Francisco based,
global law firm, Orrick. Karen will be speaking about "The
Great Recession and How It's Changing Our Business
Relationships." She will offer a set of observations and
predictions on the current state and future of
client-service provider relationships.
About the Speaker
Karen
Johnson-McKewan, a partner in the San Francisco office, is a
member of the Litigation Group and, for three years
(2005-2008), served as Orrick's San Francisco Office Leader.
Ms. Johnson-McKewan's practice focuses on complex commercial
litigation. She was named one of the "Most Influential Women
in Bay Area Business" in 2007 and 2008. Before joining
Orrick, Ms. Johnson-McKewan was a partner at Clifford Chance
and at Brobek, Phleger & Harrison, where she also served as
managing partner.
Over the past 20 years, Ms.
Johnson-McKewan has represented clients in a broad range of
commercial matters in state and federal courts and before
multiple arbitral bodies. Ms. Johnson-McKewan has defended
clients in federal bankruptcy court adversary proceedings,
litigated and tried a number of real estate-related
disputes, trust and estate matters, insurance coverage cases
and commercial fraud matters. In addition, Ms. Johnson-McKewan
has handled a number of consumer class actions and cases
arising under California's Business & Professions Code
section 17200, represented lawyers in professional
malpractice and malicious prosecution cases, represented
institutional and individual trustees in major trust and
estate matters, and represented a variety of clients in
privacy and defamation matters.
