Congratulations to our 2009
Financial Woman of the Year – Janet Lamkin, President of
Bank of America California. Janet is committed to community;
both her professional community and the growth of the
community where she lives and works. After obtaining
bachelors degrees in political science and business
administration and a masters’ degree in international
relations, she began her career as a legislative assistant
working on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. When Janet was
President and CEO of the California Bankers’ Association,
she spearheaded efforts to address banking industry issues
such as risk and corporate governance, competition and
consumer education. Today, as President of Bank of America
California, she oversees the largest market in the Bank’s
national franchise.
Throughout her career Janet
has served on many boards and committees, including as the
President of the State Government Affairs Council, the
California Chamber of Commerce Board and as the President of
Professional Business Women of California. Janet is also a
patron of the arts, including her Board service at the San
Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Museum of Modern
Art.
Janet was recognized with
the 2009 Founder’s Award from the Women’s Initiative for
Self Employment and was named as one of 2009’s Most
Influential Businesswoman in the Bay Area – her fourth time
to receive this award.
The Financial Woman of the Year Award applauds Janet’s
recognized leadership in financial services, her commitment
to bettering the community and her active promotion of the
advancement of women. Register now for this special luncheon
in her honor at the Sheraton Palace Hotel in San Francisco
The Luncheon
The purpose of the Financial Woman of the Year luncheon
is three-fold: to raise awareness about the success of women
in finance, to honor an outstanding woman financial leader
in the Bay Area, and to generate funds for the FWA
Scholarship Fund. With the proceeds generated by this event,
the Fund has contributed to the future of women in finance
by awarding over $1.5 million dollars to more than 180 Bay
Area women who show promise as future financial leaders!
