Each year, the FWA of San Francisco honors a senior executive who demonstrates a commitment to her profession and community, and who actively promotes the advancement of women. The 2008 Financial Woman of the Year, Leslie Tang Schilling, is a recognized leader in her field, has demonstrated a deep commitment to bettering the Bay Area community, and has a stellar record of actively supporting and promoting the advancement of women.

2008 Financial Woman of the Year Honoree

Leslie Tang Schilling began her life early on as an international business woman. She was born in NY, grew up in Hong Kong, and obtained her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and her Masters in International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management. Leslie worked for Wells Fargo and Chartered Bank of London before launching her own firm. She founded, and is Director of, Union Square Investment Company, a real estate investment and management company.

Leslie has impacted many through her leadership in the business world. Her passion for the industry and for the community shines through at her own company and in her service to corporate boards and community organizations. She steadfastly supports education - being deeply involved with UC Berkeley and MIT, and serving on the UC Board of Regents, appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

These highlights give us a sneak preview of Leslie's story of dedication and commitment.

About the Financial Woman of the Year Event

This event supports scholarships for exceptional graduate and undergraduate women pursuing a career in finance. Since its inception in 1996, the annual Financial Woman of the Year event has raised over $1,250,000 for scholarship awards. Past events have been generously supported by distinguished institutions such as Wells Fargo Bank, Lenos Software, California Society of CPAs, VISA, Barclays Global Investors, PricewaterhouseCoopers, SF Business Times and Bank of America, among others.
