On October 6, 2011 the FWA celebrated its 16th Annual Financial Woman of the Year, Kathryn Hall. Katie is the founder, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Hall Capital Partners LLC. As CEO and CIO, Katie and her team at Hall Capital Partners manage and direct approximately $22 billion in investment assets for advisory clients and pooled vehicle investors.

Katie Hall, Financial Woman of the Year 2011,
shares her perspectives on risk and resilience

The Financial Woman of the Year Award applauds Katie's outstanding leadership in financial services, her active participation in the community, and her unwavering commitment to the advancement of women.

During her remarks Katie defined "taking risk" as being willing to operate in an uncertain environment, which truthfully could encompass every aspect of our daily lives. But she specifically highlighted a person's willingness to "enter the fray" and expose oneself to a very public form of success or failure. By "resiliency" she means the ability to pick yourself up and learn from your mistakes. Resiliency and its close corollary, a willingness to change, have been crucial to her career.

The following video captures Katie Hall's leadership style, business talent, and passion for investing.

Katie joined us in applauding this year's FWA Scholarship Recipients: "They are a great example of making the world a better place." Whether being raised by a challenged single parent, hailing from a struggling immigrant background, or traveling to the far reaches of the Indian and African continents, these women are putting a new face on finance and redefining what it can do for people. The Financial Women's Association of San Francisco is heartened to think of the positive change all ten of this year's scholarship recipients will bring to our industry.

Take a moment to view the following video introducing the 2011 FWA scholarship recipients and you, too, will be inspired and hopeful for the future of our industry.

We invite you to continue your support as the FWA of San Francisco LEADS, MENTORS AND INSPIRES women vital to our industry's growth, innovation and health. Please donate generously to FWA scholarship fund or the endowment that both support the FWA Scholarship program for San Francisco Bay Area women who are studying in the areas of finance or financial services.
